Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting the female reproductive organs. The cervix is part of the female reproductive organs. It's in the pelvis. The cervix is the part, narrower than the lower uterus (womb). The cervix connects the uterus and vagina.
During menstrual periods, bleeding from the uterus through the cervix into the vagina. The vagina leads to the outside of the body. The cervix produces mucus. Mucus during sex to help sperm move from the vagina through the cervix into the uterus. During pregnancy, the cervix is closed tightly to keep the baby inside the womb. During childbirth, the cervix opens to allow the baby out through the vagina.




Cervical cancer begins in cells on the surface of the cervix. Over time, cervical cancer penetrates deeper into the cervix and nearby tissues. Cancer cells with detachment of the spread (primary) original tumor. Start of the blood vessels or lymph vessels that branch into tissues throughout the body. Cancer cells can attach to other tissues and grow into new tumors that can damage these tissues. The spread of cancer is called metastasis.

More than 99% of cervical cancers thought to be caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Different strengths of the human papillomavirus (HPV), sexually transmitted infections, plays a significant role in causing most cases of cervical cancer. When infected with HPV, generally a woman's immune system will develop and the virus will destroy her immune system. Fraction of women, can still survive from the virus for many years until eventually some cells on the surface of the cervix into cancer cells.



There are two main types of cervical cancer. 

1. Squamous: Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common type of cervical cancer. It develops from squamous cells, the cells are flat in the outer layer of the cervix.
2. Adenocarcinoma: This type of flower from the cells lining the glands in the cervix.

Cervical cancer is often diagnosed in young women. This is the second most common cancer among women under age 35, after breast cancer. Cervical cancer symptoms are not always clear. Not seen any symptoms until it reaches an advanced stage. The most common symptoms of cervical cancer is abnormal vaginal bleeding, such as between menstrual periods or after intercourse.

1. Causes and risk factors for cervical cancer have been identified and included in it is an infection of human papillomavirus (HPV), have multiple sexual partners, smoking, taking birth control pills, and engage in early sexual contact.
2. HPV can cause cervical dysplasia, or abnormal growth of cervical cells.
3. Routine pelvic examination and Pap smear tests can detect precancerous changes in cervical cells.
4. Precancerous changes in the cervix can be treated with cryosurgery, cauterization, or laser surgery.
5. The most common symptoms and signs of cervical cancer is abnormal bleeding and pelvic pain.
6. Cervical cancer can be diagnosed using a Pap smear or other procedures by taking a sample of cervical tissue.
7. Chest X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and PET scans can be used to stage cervical cancer.
8. Cervical cancer require different treatment from other parts of uterus cancer.
9. Treatment options for cervical cancer include radiation therapy, surgery, and chemotherapy.
10. Two vaccines, Gardasil and Cervarix, which is available to prevent HPV infection.
11. Prognosis depends on the stage of cervical cancer and cervical cancers and tumor size
